  Every now and then I am overwhelmed by sharp cravings for Middle Eastern Food for which I need immediate treatment. Naturally, I head over to Faanoos.
  
  The first thing you need to do as soon as you walk in is order the pita bread. The restaurant has an on-site clay over in which they freshly bake the pita bread. A good excuse to eat more of the pita bread is to order the humus to start. It is smooth, has a natural flavour and is enough for two or three people to share.
  
  Then, after you've ordered and gluttonously eaten more pita bread you are ready for mains get the okra-lamb stew with jasmine rice and the beef kebabs (meal size). It is more than enough to give you a couple of food babies.
  
  Let me start with the okra stew. Its light, has a very soft yet full of flavor. The rice is light and fluffy. I am sure they have a rice cooker to end ALL rice cookers. The kebab's are really juicy. It's just all very good. Very very good. Just go. Please. Now.

  Excellent Persian food with a few unique twists. First, there's a tandoor inside, so you get fresh naan, not pita. Second, the koobideh is with lamb, not beef, and it's the best I've had. Third, the onions are extra-spicy. I enjoyed this unassuming restaurant. It's a good date venue as well. (January 2018)

  We went there on a cold rainy evening. Missed it for the first time as we were walking on the other side of the street and Fanoos is straight behind a bus stop. It's literally hugging it. This unexpected feature proved useful later when we were going to Richmond proper. We waited until the bus comes inside and left just a few minutes before it. When you enter the first thing you notice is the warmth from the Indian style tandoor oven at the corner next to the door. Good place for a source of heat. If you order some bread, you will see the chef make it right there next to the oven. We ordered the pita with hummus. So hummus was ok, perfectly satisfactory but the freshly baked pita was incredible. Then we ordered two specials from the menu. I liked mine and my girlfriend liked hers though I didn't like hers and she didn't like mine. Our specials were very bean based and a decent portion. Though might be harder taste to get. Regardless. We enjoyed it and will be back again I think. Oh service was cool and the restaurant was also nicely decorated. Recommended

  great food and you can see it is freshly cooked as they have the old fashioned oven in the window!
  portion sizes are very generous&i would definitely recommend the freshly squeezed orange&apple juice!!
  Great if you want to have a nice meal on a budget!

  East Sheen is well endowed with restaurants and cafes, many of which come and then disappear with alarming speed.  Faanoos has been there for a couple of years or so but, although I've heard glowing reports about it from various friends, I had never been there myself... until tonight.
  
  The decor is authentic, the music pleasant without being intrusive and the clientele a mix of families, couples and friends.  It's smallish (probably about 30 covers), with a large bread oven in the window giving out a comforting heat on a cold night.  The food was tender and delicious with generous portions - and incredibly good value!  Between the two of us we had three starters, two main courses, wine, juice and coffee and our bill came to just under £28!
  
  I will definitely be going back!
